“Every guest wants a unique experience,” said Virginia Birdsong, Project Coordinator. “Whether that be at a football championship or a company convention, we followed the same methodical approach we would for any other event. It may not be a sports event, but all the same principles apply and as always, it’s our job to find ways to make the client’s vision a reality.”
The event began on a Sunday evening with the Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham decked out in branded Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers signage directing guests to the check in and hospitality areas. The graphics team also provided maps and digital assets to populate the EOC & TE event app to help guests navigate the event’s different sessions and meetings. Colonnade coordinated an event for all employees and their families at the new Top Golf facility nearby on Monday night and helped host an iron pour at nearby Sloss Furnaces National Historic Site, so attendees could do something uniquely Birmingham and learn a little about the industry that founded the city.
But, there was one thing that Colonnade hadn’t done before.
“The Tire Rodeo is when an employee from each Express Oil & Tire Engineer store is chosen to compete against another store to see who can mount a tire on a rim the fastest,” said Virginia. “The winner won a brand-new tire changing machine for their store. We had a DJ and added two large screens to keep track of the time. This definitely was our first tire rodeo!”
Virginia continues, “Even though we had never done a tire rodeo, we view every Colonnade job as an opportunity to learn something new. It was enlightening to learn about all the moving parts and sectors of their company and how something core to their business like putting a tire on a rim can be a great team building event. They’re a close-knit group of people, just like us at Colonnade.”
